Ladies in their wide-brimmed hats; gentlemen dressed in the finest seersucker suits while others celebrated Cinco de Mayo, YardBird, decided to host the Kentucky Derby party. Sponsored by Maker’s Mark, the Derby party will also debut the new Maker’s Mark Mint Julep cocktail onto Yardbird’s menu. The Mint Julep is considered a quintessential southern staple and is absolutely necessary for proper southern hospitality. The Special Derby menu included delectable pickled fried vegetables, fried chicken and biscuits with pepper jelly, creamy cheese grits and mouth watering smoky bacon lettuce wraps, just to name a few. YardBird is a semi-finalist for the James Beard award for Best New Restaurant 2012 and Best Chef, south for Chef Jeff McInnis.
